Hi! I'm Kate Baum, a Film Editor from Colorado Springs, Co. I have a focus in editing and have experience in both narrative and documentary filmmaking.
When I was little my mom and I always used to have a puzzle in progress sitting on our dining room table. I spent hours at that dining room table putting together puzzle after puzzle with her; I was addicted. When I was ten I discovered a new way to do puzzles; editing. I have loved editing ever since the first time I used Premiere Pro at a summer camp. A giant puzzle that formed a movie piece by piece, cut by cut; I was again addicted. To me editing is powerful, being able to help shape and mold the story to a director's vision, to take something that seems like just a random bunch of scenes into a movie people go to watch to be inspired, to laugh or to cry. I love editing because it is an escape from reality and a way that I can always revisit those feelings I felt as a little kid at the dining room table with my mom
